Washing your hair after a hair transplant is one of the important parts of post-operative care. You shouldn’t wash your hair like before the hair transplant surgery. There are some points you have to pay attention to.

  • Being gentle to your hair is the key point of washing hair after a hair transplant surgery. Any rubbing, contact with fingernails, or strong trauma will be harmful to your transplanted hair, and believe me you don’t want it.
  • The right time for washing hair after hair transplant surgery may change from person to person. Your surgeon will inform you when you can wash your hair after surgery. But, the right time usually 2 to 4 days after surgery.
  • Another key point that you should pay attention to is the shampoo. Your shampoo should be paraben-free and full of naturally rejuvenating. When you shampooing your hair, you should always touch your grafts gently, and you should slide your fingers along a vertical plane without ever rubbing on them sideways or in a circular motion. Do not forget, no massaging! After day 13 or so, you should be able to gently massage your hair to help shed any leftover crusting from the healing process
